During the Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan came to be. Their outfits consisted of dressing up looking like Confederate officers. They would go up to slaves that were free and still treat them as if they were slaves as they terrorized them. The video that we watched justified for the violence shown. They perceived that it was necessary. During the 1920's people started to actually see just how big the KKK was. Just 5 years later there was about 4 million KKK members in Washington, D.C. to become affiliated. The clan was split as there was bad press about them in 1930. Then came Brown V Board of Education. This was a court case trying to stop segregated schools. This was when the KKK arose again. Their leader Bob Jones started his group up again because of how scared he was that North Carolina would get rid of segregation. This was only the beginning of the KKK coming back. Eventually by 1965, there would be about 10,000 member coming back. The Klan tried to show that they had a good side. That they were human and still had feeling but just had stronger beliefs. They did this by "street walks" but that only caused more fright in African Americans. They became more and more violent as time went on. They would brutalize and even kill people for what they believed was right. Eventually their leader Bob Jones would be put in prison and the klan would split up officially with no goals achieved.
