Harriet tubman

Updated: Oct 11, 2018

In class, we had the chance to research about a certain person whom did not approve of slavery. These people were all called abolitionists. One person who really stuck out to me that my classmate described was Harriet Tubman. She was a very interesting lady, since she was a slave herself. She was a very smart slave and even learned how to escape, but she didn't stop there. She risked her life to help other slaves escape. She became apart of creating the Underground Railroad. That was a bunch of different escape routes that were created for slaves and helped them escape. By knowing the land this allowed them to escape their hardships without trouble. Although the Underground Railroad was very successful, there was still some downfalls to it. Harriet Tubman was not only an enslaved women who escaped, she was also considered a hero and huge breaking point in slavery. One fun fact I learned that my classmate said when she presented was that Harriet Tubman had epilepsy. I never knew all about her to that extent. It was very fascinating to hear everything she did and how strong of an abolitionist she was. This was just one of my favorite people that was talked about during this class. Down below, attached is a photo of the person who spoke on behalf of Harriet Tubman.
