Bakke V Board of Regions

Bakke V Board of Regions was a court case that involved a man named Allan Bakke and Regents of the University of California. Allan Bakke was a white man that had applied to go to the University of California Medical School twice. Both times he was rejected. This drew him to question why that he kept being rejected. His scores were over average and yet he still was being said no to. The whole question that was drawn was if Bakke's 14th amendment equal rights clause was violated. Both sides of the court had very good information. The jury said that the courts holding has two elements. the court finds that having a hard and fast racial quota system violates the 14 amendment and equal protection clause, however while a quota system based on race is unconstitutional it is okay for a college or university as a factor among many. For example, in addition to the testing scores, the university can consider psychical challenges a person had to overcome and race or ethnicity as long as it is considered after SEVERAL factors.
